A year in reflection
This past year offered moments of clarity, about the work itself, and about why it continues to matter. At Alleyne & Co. Designs, the focus has never been on scale or spectacle. It has always been about care: for people, for place, and for the quieter decisions that shape how we live and work each day.
2025 reaffirmed the purpose of this practice.
DESIGNING WITH PURPOSE
Across residential and commercial work alike, 2025 asked us to slow down and listen more closely. To clients, to collaborators, and to the spaces themselves. Every engagement; whether a private home, a workplace audit, or a strategic consultation, was approached through the same lens: how does this space support human health, dignity, and long-term well-being while respecting the planet that sustains us?
As a WELL Accredited Professional, my focus remained firmly on people-first interiors, spaces that quietly improve comfort, performance, and quality of life without spectacle. Thoughtful materiality, considered colour, access to light, and biophilic cues were not trends to follow, but principles to return to.
GRATITUDE FOR TRUST AND COLLABORATION
I am deeply grateful to the clients who entrusted me with their homes, workplaces, and visions. These projects are intimate by nature, and that trust is never taken lightly. Thank you for allowing me into your lives and processes, and for being open to design conversations rooted in health, intention, and longevity.
Equally, I extend my thanks to the architects, designers, consultants, and industry colleagues who made this year richer through dialogue and collaboration. Meaningful change in our industry doesn’t happen in isolation, it happens when we challenge one another thoughtfully and work toward shared values.
EXPANDING THE CONVERSATION
Beyond private client work, 2025 marked a continued commitment to education and advocacy. Through workshops, talks, and professional conversations, I had the opportunity to engage architects, designers, and developers around a simple but urgent idea: the spaces we create have consequences.
When we design with people and planet at the centre, we move beyond aesthetics into responsibility. These sessions were less about prescribing solutions and more about opening space; for better questions, more informed decisions, and a collective shift toward healthier built environments.
LOOKING AHEAD TO 2026
As I look toward 2026, the direction is clear.
I will continue to open select spaces for private interior design work with individuals and families who value discretion, depth, and intentionality. Alongside this, I am committed to expanding workshops and collaborative forums for industry professionals, creating room for honest conversations that can lead to real, measurable change.
The year ahead is not about doing more for the sake of it. It is about doing what matters, with care and clarity.
Thank you for being part of this journey, whether as a client, collaborator, or reader of The Edit. I look forward to continuing this work together, thoughtfully and with purpose.
